A sunset yacht cruise in Abu Dhabi is one of the easiest ways to make an ordinary evening feel special. The heat eases, the sky turns gold and pink, and the city lights come on one by one while you watch from your own private deck. This guide explains how to plan it: when to go, how long to book, which yacht to choose, what it costs and what to bring.
Why Choose a Sunset Yacht Cruise?
Daytime trips are great for swimming, but late afternoon has a lot going for it. The temperature is more comfortable, the light is softer for photos and the trip naturally builds to a moment everyone looks forward to. When the sun has set, you get a second show: the skyline lit up across the water on the way back.
A private sunset cruise also works for almost any occasion – a birthday, an anniversary, a proposal, a family visit or simply a nice evening with friends. Because the yacht is yours for the trip, you set the mood.

Sunset times in Abu Dhabi change through the year. As a rough guide:

|---|---|---|
| Winter (Dec – Feb) | around 5:30 – 6:00 pm | around 4:30 – 5:00 pm |
| Spring (Mar – May) | around 6:15 – 7:00 pm | around 5:15 – 6:00 pm |
| Summer (Jun – Aug) | around 7:00 – 7:15 pm | around 6:00 – 6:15 pm |
| Autumn (Sep – Nov) | around 5:30 – 6:30 pm | around 4:30 – 5:30 pm |
These are approximate times – check the exact sunset for your date, or ask us on WhatsApp and we will suggest a start time.
How Long Should a Sunset Yacht Cruise Be?
Every yacht in our fleet has a 2-hour minimum, and 2 hours is a good length for a sunset trip. Start about an hour before sunset and you get three parts of the evening: the golden hour, the sunset itself and the early city lights on the way back.
Book 3 hours if you want a slower pace, a longer stop for photos or time for a full birthday celebration with cake and music after dark.
Whatever length you choose, working out the cost is simple: multiply the hourly rate of your yacht by the number of hours you book, then divide by the size of your group to see what it means per person.
Where to Start: Yas Marina or Elsewhere in Abu Dhabi
You can start your sunset yacht cruise at Yas Marina on Yas Island on one of our two Yas Marina yachts, the Yas Horizon or the Yas Lounge. Our other eight yachts depart from other Abu Dhabi locations; we confirm the meeting point on WhatsApp after booking. Both options give you a private yacht and the same included service.

For couples and small groups
The Pearl Diver (up to 8 guests), the Blue Fin and the Silver Gull 55 are sized for smaller groups, so the deck feels intimate rather than empty. They suit proposals and anniversaries. If you would like to start from Yas Marina, the Yas Lounge takes up to 15 guests and has rooftop seating with panoramic sea views.
For birthdays and big groups
The Yas Horizon takes up to 20 guests and is lit up after dark – a good fit for a sunset that turns into a party. For 35 guests, the Island Loft 82 houseboat has a shaded top deck and a long indoor lounge.
For families
The Saltwater 75 catamaran, which departs from another Abu Dhabi location, has a wide, steady deck, a rooftop lounge area and an air-conditioned lounge, so everyone from grandparents to toddlers has a comfortable place to sit.
